The recent 3 part TV Series 'The Promise' was an excellent dramatic attempt to convey the recent historical origins of the Palestine v Israel difficulties. I have often viewed this problem as a running sore in this region and the source of much Arab anquish. In the eyes of many Arab states the 'West' appears to ignore the UN resolutions that (still) condemn the original formation of the Israeli 'state' and it now makes me wonder what the impact of the cliched 'Arab Spring' will have on this festering wound in the region. It is an intensely interesting subject -from a purely historical view - and it raises many questions, not least of which is: how can the Palestinian crisis be overcome and what historical examples can we use to guide a resolution.
