The Great Exhibition of 1851. And generally being in London at that time.

Also, the battle of Naseby, to see the New Model Army at work for its first real use in battle.

1. The Battle of Bosworth - how and why did Richard III lose.
2. The premiere of Messiah in Dublin 1742.
3. Eruption of Vesuvius AD79 (but from a safe distance!)

Though some say Arthur of Britain was not a historical figure, his name does appear in historical records - though not many. If I could witness an historical event it would have been to see Arthur's return to his forward base after his famous victory at Mount Badon. Though many suggestions are made for the famed Camelot, not one hypothesis is in the right place for the British containment of the Angle and Saxon settlements in the south and east. There is, however one ancient site that does sit in the most sensible spot and it does share a link with Arthur and a tiny pointer to the name Camelot, so I know where to go for my witnessing.

Good question but hard to pick just one. I will have to pick three main areas that have many long lasting theories, namely:
1. The arrival of Claudius and his army in AD43 - where did they land Kent or Sussex, what Iron Age Britons thought about the Romans arrival and how long it actually took for the Romans to pacify a majority of the population?
2. The building of Stonehenge (in its many phases) to try to justify what its purpose was at the very beginning.
3. The reign of King Harold II - to try to find out the strength of opinion during Harold's short reign, was he favourably on the throne, did he force his way there or did Edward bestow it upon him ? Also the sewing of the Bayeaux Tapestry to find out the real answers behind all the questions raised.

somebody said something about which historical people they would have like too have met, as well as what event they would have liked to have witnessed, so i'm answering both.
person, marie antoinette, cos their is still so much mystery surrounding her life,
and event, when king charles the second rode into london on 29 may 1660, infact all of the restoration, so 1660 - 1670.
