Dancing to the Precipice, a book based on the diaries of Lucie de la Tour du Pin, who lived through the French Revolution, escaped to America, returned to France during Napoleon's Empire and her final death in Pisa. It gave such a personal view of these times, a good counterpoint to Simon Schama's Citoyens.
