the government has decided to keep the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of this highly significant battle to a minimum. as it is one of the most important events in not only British but European history i believe this is a mistake. we have a Government that is at last demanding that history is taught in our schools as opposed to the very woolly PC social history of the 20th century plus selected parts of the history of the Tudors. yet here is an opportunity to get all schools and young people involved in learning about a major part of their heritage and they choose to ignore it. i have written to both my MP and also to my MEP`s asking that they push for not only a major celebration to take part here in the UK but also that the event is recognised and celebrated across Europe as just as in 1945 it ensured that the people of europe were freed from tyranny, i trust others concerned about our heritage will do the same. we have only 4 years, to change their minds.
