A selection of vintage travel, sport and propaganda posters have sold at auction for more than £12,000.
Among the range was a US Government-commissioned Second World War propaganda offset lithograph poster by John Falter, which sold for £62, and a number of travel posters symbolic of the 1960s ‘Jet Age’.
Other highlights included the iconic poster by Etienne Maurice Firmin Bouisset for French chocolate maker, Menier. Hired by the company in 1897, the artist used his daughter as a model for the poster. It fetched £1,240 in the Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions’ sale.
The most expensive piece in the sale was a lithograph by famous American illustrator and graphic designer Raymond Ameijide. Created in the 1950s for Pan Am airline, it promotes Bermuda as the holiday destination of choice.
