The complete run of Punch from 1841 to 1992 has been uploaded to a fully searchable digital archive. Highlights include the comic works of William Thackeray and P G Wodehouse; full-page political cartoons by Alice in Wonderland illustrator John Tenniel and Winnie the Pooh artist E H Shepard, and Punch’s famous parliamentary sketches
A collection of reflective landscape photographs of the Somme battlefield has gone on display in London.
Taken by Scottish photographer Peter Cattrell in the 1990s, the images capture the former killing fields in France. Some depict the now tranquil countryside, while others feature remnants of the conflict including barbed wire and a bullet.
Hundreds of lantern slides offering a unique insight into a turbulent period of Russian history have gone on display for the first time. Collected in the 1910s and 1920s by traveller and political activist Henry Sara, the slides reveal the impact of war and daily life in Russian streets.
