On 12 April 1961 Yuri Gagarin’s Vostock spacecraft orbited the Earth for the
first time and three weeks later Alan Shepard in Freedom 7 became America’s first man in space; some 10 years later, NASA had landed 12 men on the Moon.
This month sees the auction of nearly 300 NASA photographs belonging to Victor Martin-Malburet, a collection of images that has been exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris and at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Saint-Etienne Métropole.
The Exploration of Space: Vintage NASA photographs – the collection of Victor Martin-Malburet goes on sale at Bloomsbury Auctions in London on 3 November at 1pm. For more information and to download the full catalogue, visit the Bloomsbury Auctions website.
