Out and about in March

Find out what's going on around the UK in March with our events and exhibitions page.

© Teun Voeten, Ganta, Liberia, June 23rd 2003.

Ganta is a small town, 250kilometers NE of Monrovia, on the border with Guinnée.
Rebels from the LURD (Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy) captured the town but were beaten back by President Taylor's goverment forces.
During fierce fighting, the LURD rebels, who have their bases in Guinnée, relentlessly shelled the town.

Get out and about with our extended guide to exhibitions and events taking place across Britain this March. From exhibitions on the treasures of Afghanistan and child evacuees in the Second World War, to St David’s Day and St Patrick’s Day celebrations, there’s bound to be something here for every taste.

Featuring works from the Schorr Collection, A Collector’s Eye: Cranach to Pissarro presents 64 pieces covering five centuries of art – from 15th-century devotional pieces to 19th-century French Impressionist landscapes. The collection, owned and assembled by private collector David J. Lewis and family, has taken 35 years to put together and is made up of some 400 pieces.
Among the works on display in this exhibition are works by Rubens, El Greco, Delacroix and Cranach, as well as impressionists such as Pissarro and Sisley.
