The stories of some of Britain’s most passionate plant hunters come to life this month in an exhibition at London’s Garden Museum.
Organised in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Lindley Library, the exhibition uses objects and images to illustrate these trailblazers’ expeditions.
Through original botanical illustrations, lantern slides, tools and other scientific material, it tells the story of how plant seekers gained initial patronage, journeyed to their destinations, set up camp and explored the regions to which they had travelled. Last but not least, it considers the long-term legacies of their work.
The Plant Seekers is on display at the Garden Museum in London between 17 July–21 October 2012. For more information, visit the Garden Museum website
