About the exhibition
Thirty-eight watercolour paintings by artist JMW Turner (1775–1851) are now on display at the Scottish National Gallery, taking visitors on a journey to Wales, Italy, the Alps and Scotland through the medium of art.
Bequeathed by collector Henry Vaughan in 1899, the works have been exhibited at the gallery every January for the past 110 years at Vaughan’s request, limiting their exposure to light and thus maintaining their excellent state of preservation.
Turner in January 2012 is on display at the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh until 31 January 2012 and admission is free. For more information, visit the
