In an excellent new series, architecture critic Tom Dyckhoff charts the history of the conservation movement in Britain since the Second World War. He begins in Bath, which was badly damaged by German raids. By the 1970s, the city was threatened again, as town planners earmarked Georgian buildings for demolition. But have efforts to preserve Bath now gone too far?
