- The Colour of Time: A New History of the Modern World
- The Great Hall
- Saturday 6 October
Historian Dan Jones and artist Marina Amaral discuss their collaboration to retell the history of the world from 1850 to 1960 through a series of newly colourised photographs. Covering topics as diverse as the reign of Queen Victoria and the US Civil War to the Cuban Missile Crisis and beginning of the Space Age, this promises to be a rich new look at how the world has changed in the last century and a half.
Marina Amaral is a digital colourist who specialises in adding colour to black and white photographs and “breathing life into the past”. Crowned ‘the master of photo colorization’ by WIRED Magazine, her work has been featured by a number of notable media outlets including the BBC, London Evening Standard, Washington Post, CNN and Le Figaro.
