Talk synopsis: Henry VI inherited the thrones of England and France before his first birthday, and lost both during a reign beset by mental illness and bloody civil war. In this talk historian Lauren Johnson reappraises this often overlooked monarch, who cast a long shadow over the 15th century.

Speaker bio: Lauren Johnson is a historian of the late Middle Ages with a decade’s experience working in live historical interpretation at heritage sites internationally. Her books include Shadow King: The Life and Death of Henry VI and So Great a Prince: England and the Accession of Henry VIII.
