To mark the 200th anniversary of Britain's gas industry, National Grid has pulled together a host of archive footage to create the film below. From a gas cookery demonstration by Bob Dylan to Dame Vera Lynn trying to work her new gas oven, the film focuses on the Home Service Advisors introduced during the 1960s – teams of women who were on hand to show customers how to use their new appliances by baking the perfect Victoria sponge in the oven.
