James will tell the story behind a vital air battle of February 1944, when the Allies strove to clear the skies over western Europe before D-Day. He will reveal why it was fighters, rather than bombers, that proved the decisive weapon in the strategic air war.

James Holland is a historian, writer and broadcaster. He is currently writing a three-volume history of the Second World War in the west. James has presented and written programmes for the BBC, Channel 4, National Geographic, History and Discovery, and is co-founder of Chalke Valley History Festival.
