The Castle contains fine collections of paintings, furniture, Meissen porcelain and Arms which provide a glimpse of life here in the past. There is something here for everyone; from the vast Barons Hall, reputedly the scene where 700 Knights plotted ‘The Northern Rebellion’ against Queen Elizabeth I, to the sumptuous Victorian Octagonal Drawing Room; one of the most striking interiors of the 19th century.
