Talk synopsis: The German invasion of Poland sparked World War Two in Europe, but it is one of the least known and most misunderstood campaigns of the war. In this talk, Roger Moorhouse examines this fascinating story afresh, sifts the mythology from the fact and explains why it is significant.

Speaker bio: Roger Moorhouse is a historian specialising in modern German and Central European history, especially Nazi Germany and Poland during World War Two. He is a visiting professor at the College of Europe in Warsaw, and is the author of a number of books including Berlin at War, Killing Hitler and The Devils’ Alliance.
