How does a historian experience historic events? Ian lived in West Berlin in 1989-90 during the momentous year when the wall came down. He will reflect – through his own memory of the dramatic changes taking place before his eyes – on one of the key turning points in modern history
Ian Kershaw has written extensively on modern German history, including a two-volume biography of Hitler which won the Wolfson History Prize. More recently, he has written two books on the history of Europe between 1914 and 2017. Ian was knighted in 2002.
