1921: Birth of Philip, the only son of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenburg. In 1947 he was created Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich.


1692: Bridget Bishop became the first person to be executed during the Salem witch trials when she was hanged for witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts.

1807: Russians got the better of the French at the battle of Heilsberg.
