1462: Mainz printers Johann Fust and Peter Schoeffer produced the two-volume Biblia Latina. It was the first printed Bible to contain the date and place of its printing, and the names of its printers.

1851: American gambler, gunfighter and dentist John Henry ‘Doc’ Holliday was born in Griffin, Georgia. He is best remembered for his participation in the gunfight at the OK Corral in October 1881.

1941: The Atlantic Charter was issued by Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill. It set forth eight goals for the nations of the world, starting with the renunciation of all aggression.
