Richard III was Duke of Gloucester for 22 years and king of England for only two. In this talk, Michael will explore how in both roles, Richard – highly unusually – had bold aspirations. He looked ahead, and forged strategies that present him in a highly positive light.

Formerly professor of medieval history at the University of Winchester, Michael Hicks specialises in Yorkist history. He is the author of 16 books on topics including the Wars of the Roses, Edward IV, Edward V, Richard III and his queen Anne Neville.
