October sees the launch of an exhibition to examine the vital role played by horses in war throughout history, some eight million of which were killed or slaughtered in the First World War alone.
Based on the popular novel War Horse, by Michael Morpurgo, the stories of these ‘patient heroes’ and the men who depended on them are brought to life through objects from the museum’s collections, together with material from the acclaimed stage production of the novel by the National Theatre.
War Horse: Fact & Fiction is on display at the National Army Museum from 22 October and admission is free. You can find out more about the exhibition at the National Army Museum website
